How ProTechnical transformed a Grade II listed former NatWest Bank into one of Nottingham's most exciting entertainment venues with Netvio, Samsung, and Habitech.
Box Nottingham is a striking example of what happens when ambition meets expertise. Housed within a Grade II listed former NatWest Bank in Nottingham's historic Lace Market, the venue represents a bold transformation from banking hall to multi-zone entertainment space. ProTechnical, led by Tommy Clark, delivered a comprehensive AV installation that honours the building's heritage whilst equipping it for the demands of modern hospitality.
The challenge at Box was to deliver a fully integrated AV system within the constraints of a listed building. Tommy Clark, who has worked in commercial AV for over 15 years, describes the brief as balancing respect for the building's architectural character with the need for a flexible, zone-based entertainment system that could adapt to different events and audiences throughout the week.
The venue spans five distinct zones, each requiring independent audio and visual control. From intimate cocktail areas to high-energy event spaces, the system needed to deliver a seamless experience across every part of the building.
The building itself is the star. Our job was to make sure the technology enhances that experience without ever competing with the architecture. Every speaker, every screen, every control point has been considered with the heritage in mind.
Tommy Clark ProTechnicalAt the heart of the installation sits the Netvio AV over IP platform, providing centralised control across all five zones. The system allows staff to manage audio, video, and lighting from a single app-based interface, making it straightforward to adapt the venue's atmosphere for any occasion.
The Netvio platform was chosen for its flexibility and reliability. In a venue with this many zones and sources, having a single, intuitive control system eliminates complexity and ensures that staff can deliver the right experience without specialist technical knowledge.
ProTechnical specified Samsung commercial displays and LED walls throughout the venue, chosen for their exceptional brightness, colour accuracy, and commercial-grade reliability. The screens are positioned to ensure maximum visibility across all zones, from large-format LED walls in the main event space to carefully placed displays in more intimate areas.
The combination of Samsung's display technology with the Netvio distribution platform means content can be routed to any screen in the building with a single tap, giving the venue complete flexibility over what is shown and where.
Habitech's support throughout the specification and supply process was instrumental. Their product knowledge and willingness to go the extra mile meant we could focus on delivering the best possible installation for the client.
